Packing Tips & Tricks From the OLO Team

MAKE A LIST- Make a list for each person

PACKING CUBES

ROLL IT

I always, always roll my kids’ entire outfits together. Top, bottom, underwear, socks, and any accessories all get rolled up, and then put in the packing cube. It makes it so much easier to find coordinating outfits that way and takes the guesswork out.

CARRY ON ESSENTIALS

1 clean outfit for each child, 1 swimsuit, 1 set of pajamas, 1 lovey (or blankey), 1 sweatshirt, and any bedtime essentials or toiletries (sunscreen, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc).

SOCKS INSIDE SHOES

Packing shoes can be such an awkward space-taker in a suitcase. I always stuff the kids’ shoes with their socks or even little toys to make the space count!

CLOTHES PINS/BINDER CLIPS- multipurpose keeping curtains closed, hanging up wet swim suits

Cross-pack checked bags

OK, now it's time to pack. But there's one more thing to do before you put your items into suitcases: Mix up your piles, or cubes, of clothes for kids and parents.

Cross-packing means putting some of each person's items into each suitcase. In other words, we're not going to put all of the kid stuff in one bag and all of the adult stuff in another. By mixing items in each suitcase, you'll be covered in case one bag gets delayed or goes missing; you'll still have clothing for everyone to get by for a few days.
